community partnerships

Long Elementary School partners with the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Alabama to help families provide after school tutoring and childcare services. We provide transportation to the B&G Club, as well as providing the directors with login information for students to use school-provided computer-based learning resources.

Local churches provide food and school supplies for students whose families are at-risk of being affected by poverty or food insecurity, and we partner with local churches and charitable organizations, providing canned food for local food pantries, and coordinating holiday gifts for students and families in need.

LES teachers and staff contribute to the United Way. Donations stay in our area allowing resources to be used for our community’s needs. We raise money for cancer awareness and research through fall campaigns.

The Dale County Sheriff’s department conducts a Christmas Santa Fly over for our students. This partnership fosters goodwill between students, faculty and staff and law enforcement.

The local fire department spends time and resources to show our students the resources and manpower required to fight fires. They bring trucks and equipment for students to tour and explore. This promotes both safety and career exploration for our students.
