Educational Learning Packets

Grade K-6 teachers will send home Educational Learning Packets that provide meaningful/essential untaught standards based work to complete every two weeks. Packets will be distributed on April 6, April 20, and May 4; based on their previous preference for receiving packets (delivery by bus – only for bus route students). Packets will NOT be returned. The teacher and principal will make a judgement before May 22; based on grades from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd nine weeks and the Educational Learning Packet correspondence; about whether a child will pass or fail. No grades will be given for the 4th nine weeks.

Grade 7-11 teachers will send home Educational Learning Packets that provide meaningful/essential untaught standards based work to complete every two weeks. Packets will be distributed on April 6, April 20, and May 4; based on their previous preference of receiving packets (delivery by bus – only for bus route students). Packets will NOT be returned. On May 14 an End of Course Test will be distributed. The End of Course Test will be comprehensive for the semester and be standards based. The student will complete the test and submit it to the teacher electronically (picture via text, picture via email, or scan/email) by May 19. The transcript grade for second semester will be – 3rd 9 weeks grade 85% and End of Course test 15%. The material in the Educational Learning Packets will provide students needed standards based work and prepare them for the End of Course test. The End of Course test will be similar to a final exam and be teacher made. Educational Learning Packets will only be sent for “Critical Courses for Completion”; which are courses required for an Alabama High School Diploma.

Note: Almost 90% of the standards have already been taught.

Note: We do not intend to overwhelm students/families with too much work. Packet material will be essential content and to the point. We do not want to cause more heartache for families during this crisis.
